Permutation enumeration symmetric functions, and unimodality (Q1314915)

The paper studies certain polynomials obtained by enumeration permutations with respect to the exceedances, motivated by a conjecture of R. Stanley. The author applies the theory of symmetric functions (Schur polynomials etc.) to derive the enumeration polynomials and to prove the unimodality property, and finally he proposes some conjectures.
