The streamlines of the work follow the well known analysis of \textit{S. Prössdorf} and \textit{A. Rathsfeld} [Z. Anal. Anwend. 8, No. 3, 197-220 (1989; Zbl 0686.65096)] on the convergence of collocation and quadrature methods for singular integral equations with Cauchy kernel on closed, piecewise smooth curves. The authors give local conditions which are necessary and sufficient for the stability of quadrature schemes (using the rectangular rule) and they establish the stability of the collocation method (with piecewise constant trial functions) both corresponding to a second kind integral equation on an angle. The solutions of the Neumann problem for the Laplace equation in the exterior of a triangle and a square are compared with those obtained by the above methods.
