An initial value problem for a heavy viscous fluid flowing down an inclined plane is considered. Using the quantity \(Re^{-1/7}\) (\(Re\) is the Reynolds number) as a small parameter, four characteristic regions are distinguished in the flow. It is shown that the disturbances travelling down the inclined plane take the shape of wave packet. The solution is obtained by using integral transforms. Applying the method of steepest descent, the disturbance pressure for large values of time is presented.
