\(T_ 0\)-extensions \(Y\) of topological spaces \(X\) can be studied by means of suitable traces that \(Y\) leave on \(X\). The author introduces a grid structure on the collection of these traces as a new tool to classify the various kinds of \(T_ 0\)-extensions.
