Let \(AP\) be the algebra of all uniformly almost periodic functions \(f\) on \(\mathbb{R}\) and let \(f_ \lambda=M (e^{-i \lambda t} f)\) \(\in \sigma(f)\), where \(\sigma(f)\) is the spectrum of \(f\). The Wiener algebra \(AP_ w\) consists of functions \(f \in AP\) such that \(\sum_{\lambda \in \sigma (f)} | f_ \lambda |<\infty\). For any \(\mu>0\) one denotes by \(\Pi_ \mu\) the projection: \(\sum_{\lambda \in \sigma (f)} f_ \lambda e^{i \lambda t} \to \sum_{\lambda \in [-\mu,\mu]} f_ \lambda e^{i \lambda t}\). There are investigated functions \(f \in \Pi_ \mu [AP_ w]\) such that \(F_ \mu = \Pi_ \mu \circ M_ f\), where \([(M_ f) (h)](t) = f(t)h(t)\) for \(t \in \mathbb{R}\), is positive definite or \(F_ \mu>0\). There are derived necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive band extension which is also characterized by a maximum entropy principle.
