This article may be considered as a continuation of previous work by the authors [see Arch. Math. 55, 120-134 (1990; Zbl 0687.16017) and Linear Algebra Appl. 160, 175-188 (1992; Zbl 0751.05069)]. They investigate now the relations between the spectral radii \(\rho (\Phi_{\overline {\Delta}})\) and \(\rho (\Phi_ \Delta)\) of the Coxeter matrices associated to quivers \(\overline {\Delta}\), \(\Delta\) such that there is a Galois covering \(\overline {\Delta} \to \Delta\), where \(\Delta\) is finite and without oriented cycles. By getting similar results for the spectral radii of the adjacency matrices [see the 1992 paper mentioned above and, also, \textit{B. Mohar}, Linear Algebra Appl. 48, 245-256 (1982; Zbl 0502.05040)], they obtain interesting bounds for \(\rho (\Delta)\). Finally, study of some connections with the genus of \(\Delta\), \(g(\Delta)\), shows that \(g(\Delta) /\rho (\Phi_ \Delta) \leq | \Delta_ 0 | / 2\) leading to an answer to a question posed by O. Kerner.
