An asymptotic solution of the problem of the incompressible turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate is constructed for high values of the logarithm of the Reynolds number calculated from the thickness of the layer. It is assumed that the shear stress depends arbitrarily on the density and viscosity of the fluid, the distance from the wall, the thickness of the boundary layer and the partial derivatives of any order of the longitudinal component of the average velocity with respect to the transverse coordinate. Under these assumptions the well-known logarithmic law for the velocity profile is derived, and asymptotic formulae in good agreement with the experimental data are obtained for the average velocity distribution, the components of the Reynolds stress tensor, the friction on the plate and the integral parameters of the boundary layer.
