Let \(F^ n\) be a smooth submanifold in a Euclidean space \(E^{n+p}\). Its Gauss image is the set of its tangent subspaces considered as a subset of the Grassmann manifold \(G(n,n + p)\). The author studies whether two isometric submanifolds with the same Gauss image coincide up to a trivial motion in \(E^{n+p}\) (i.e., a translation and a reflection). A two-dimensional plane \(\sigma \subset T_ Q F^ n\) is called a minimal plane if the mean curvature vector of the surface \(F^ 2 = F^ n \cap E^{2+p}\) (where \(E^{2+p}\) is the direct sum of \(\sigma\) and the normal subspace to \(F^ n\) at \(Q)\) vanishes at the point \(Q\). Theorem 1: Let \(F_ 1^ n\), \(F^ n_ 2 \subset E^{n+p}\) be two isometric submanifolds with the same Gauss image (in the points corresponding by the isometry). Let at least one of \(F_ i^ n\) have no minimal planes. Then \(F_ 1 = \Phi_ 1 \times \Phi_ 2\) and \(F_ 2 = \Phi_ 1 \times (-\Phi_ 2)\), where \(\Phi_ 1\) and \(\Phi_ 2\) are smooth submanifolds in orthogonal Euclidean subspaces in \(E^{n+p}\), and \((-\Phi_ 2)\) is the image of \(\Phi_ 2\) under the reflection with respect to the origin. Theorem 2: Let \(F_ 1^ n\), \(F^ n_ 2 \subset E^{n+p}\) be two isometric submanifolds with the same Gauss image (in the points corresponding by the isometry). Assume there exists a point on \(F_ i^ n\) of a positive sectional curvature. Then \(F_ 1^ n\) and \(F^ n_ 2\) coincide up to a trivial motion in \(E^{n+p}\). The author uses methods of differential geometry and the geometry of submanifolds.
