One of the most important results in the theory of pseudo real closed fields (or regular \(r\)-closed fields, RRC fields) is a characterization of groups, representable as the absolute Galois group of a pseudo real closed field [\textit{D. Haran} and \textit{M. Jarden}, Ann. Sc. Norm. Sup. Pisa, Cl. Sci., IV. Ser. 12, 449-489 (1985; Zbl 0595.12013)]. The characterization was obtained by means of the technically rather complex notion of Artin-Schreier structures. In [``Realizable \(i\)-groups'', Some problems and questions of algebra, Novosibirsk 1985, 46-60 (1985; Zbl 0597.20023)] the author proved that each \(C_ 2\)-group, realizable as the absolute Galois group of an RRC field, is a projective \(C_ 2\)-group. The group-theoretic results obtained by him in [Sov. Math., Dokl. 43, 762-766 (1991); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 318, No. 4, 798-801 (1991)] made it possible to prove that every projective \(C_ 2\)-group is realizable as the absolute Galois \(C_ 2\)-group of a certain RRC field. In the proof the author used much simpler and more natural tools than those used in the above-mentioned paper of Haran and Jarden. As a matter of fact, it is a consequence of the main theorem of the paper under review.
