The partition algebra \(P_ n(Q)\) is the algebra represented by the single interaction transfer matrices of the \(n\)-site, \(Q\)-state Potts model in arbitrarily high transverse dimension (every site in a transfer matrix layer is a nearest neighbour of every other). The complete set of generically simple modules of \(P_ n(Q)\) is known. They are indexed by a nonnegative integer \(i \in \{0,1,2,\dots,n\}\) and a partition \(\lambda \vdash i\). For \(i = 0\) (and, therefore, \(\lambda = 0\)) the corresponding left module induces the irreducible representation of the partition algebra responsible for the transfer matrix sector containing the partition function. It is shown that this module is simple unless \(Q\) is a natural number less than \(n\). Also, \(P_ n(Q)\) is semisimple unless \(Q\) is a natural number less than \(2n-1\).
