A remark on nonlinear stability of three-dimensional quasi-geostrophic motions (Q1318854)

The first author has established 1982 a nonlinear criterion for the stability of the three-dimensional quasi-geostrophic motions. In the present paper, the authors establish another criterion by a more detailed and deeper analysis. In the last part of the paper, they show, in a particular case frequently used in the study of the stability problems in geophysical fluid dynamics, that, in fact, the new criterion is better than the first one.
