We show that the quotient space \({L^ 1(T^ d)\over H^ 1(D^ d)}\) \((d\geq 2)\) is of cotype 2 and satisfies the Grothendieck theorem. It is also proved that the quotient space \({L^ p(T)\over H^ p(D^ d)}\) \((0< p<1)\) is of cotype 2. The reasoning of this paper shows the following general result: Let \(X\) be a subspace of \(L^ 1(\mu)\) on some measurable space \((\Omega,\mu)\). If there exist \(C>0\) and \(1< p<\infty\) such that for every sequence \(\{f_ n\}\in X(\ell_ p)\) and every \(t>0\), \[ K_ t(f; X(\ell_ 1),X(\ell_ p))\leq CK_ t(f; L^ 1(\ell_ 1),L^ 1(\ell_ p)), \] where \(K_ t(\cdot)\) is the \(K_ t\)- functional of Peetre in interpolation theory, then the quotient space \({L^ 1(\mu)\over X}\) is of cotype 2 and satisfies the Grothendieck theorem. This latter result recovers the known results about quotient spaces of \(L^ 1\) by reflexive subspaces or by \(H^ 1\).
