Let \(X\), \(Y\) be topological spaces and let \(f:X \to Y\) be a map. Then \(f\) is \(\Theta\)-\(R\)-continuous (resp. \(R\)-continuous [the reviewer and \textit{D. Janković}, ibid. 15, No. 1, 57-64 (1992; Zbl 0789.54017)]) if for every \(x \in X\) and every neighborhood \(V\) of \(f(x)\) there exists a neighborhood \(U\) of \(x\) such that \(\text{cl}_ \Theta f (U) \subseteq V\) (resp. \(\text{cl} f(U) \subseteq V)\). Note that for a subset \(A\) of \(X\), the \(\Theta\)-closure of \(A\), denoted by \(\text{cl}_ \Theta A\), is the set of all \(x\) in \(X\) such that every closed neighborhood of \(x\) intersects \(A\) nontrivially. It is clear that \(\Theta\)-\(R\)-continuity implies \(R\)-continuity (and hence continuity), while the converse holds when the range space \(Y\) is regular. The author gives characterizations and properties of \(\Theta\)-\(R\)-continuous functions similar to those of \(R\)-continuous functions and also shows how this strong form of continuity is related to the concept of \(R\)-continuity, to the closed graph property and to the preservation of regularity of maps.
