Any physical problem is general relativity requires the decomposition of the spacetime manifold into space and time. The paper develops such a general decomposition formalism for tensor fields, covariant derivatives, and curvature quantities, with two vector fields \(a\), \(t\) and two one- forms \(b\), \(\tau\) as the requisites. It unifies various well-known formalisms, rather than to be useful for concrete problems. A local tensor calculus is applied instead of the global concept of foliations.
