The \(k\)-plane transform \(T_ k\) is defined by the integral \((T_ kf)(P) = \int_ P fdm_ k\), where \(n\), \(k \in \mathbb{N}\), \(n \geq 2\), \(1 \leq k \leq n - 1\); \(f\) is a continuous function on \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) with compact support, and \(P \subset \mathbb{R}^ n\) is an affine plane of dimension \(k\). Using the method of \textit{J. Boman} and \textit{E. T. Quinto} [Duke Math. J. 55, 943-948 (1987; Zbl 0645.44001)], the author proves two local support theorems for this transform. For instance, if \(\text{supp} f = K \cup Q\), where \(K,Q\) are disjoint compact sets and \((T_ kf) (P) = 0\) for each \(k\)-plane \(P\) that meets a neighbourhood of \(K\) and a ball in \(\mathbb{R}^ n - K\), then \(K\) is empty.
