The author studies the singularly perturbed nonlinear vector boundary value problem \(\varepsilon y''= f(t,y,y')\), \(a<t<b\), \(y(a)=A\) and \(y(b)=B\), by means of the differential inequality techniques, under an extended weaker Nagumo condition, i.e. certain components of \(f\), say \(f_ i\), to grow at arbitrarily large rates in certain \(y_ j'\), \(j\neq i\). It shows that it is possible for solutions of boundary value problem to have components which have boundary layers which are transcendentally small in thickness, and the qualitative behavior of solutions is very sensitive to the growth rates of \(f\) with respect to the derivative components \(y_ i'\), \(i=1,\dots, n\). These results are new, and extend the previous results.
