Let \((q_ 0, \dots, q_ n)\) be positive integers. If \(\lambda\) is a non-zero complex number then \(\lambda\) acts on \(\mathbb{C}^{n + 1} - \{0\}\) by the formula \(\lambda(\tau_ 0, \tau_ 1, \dots, \tau_ n) = (\lambda^{q_ 0} \tau_ 0, \dots, \lambda^{q_ n} \tau_ n)\). The quotient of this \(\mathbb{C}^*\) action is the weighted projective space, \(P^ n _{\mathbb{C}} (q_ 0, \dots, q_ n)\). There is a map, \(\phi : \mathbb{C} P^ n \to P^ n_{\mathbb{C}} (q_ 0, \dots, q_ n)\) given by \(\phi (\tau_ 0, \dots, \tau_ n) = (\tau_ 0^{q_ 0}, \dots, \tau_ n^{q_ n})\). In complex K-theory the author shows that the induced map is injective and uses it to calculate the complex K-theory rings of weighted projective spaces.
