    The author proved two theorems. The first one has several interesting corollaries. This theorem reads as follows: 1) If \(n_{k + 1} = q_ kn_ k\), \(1 < q_ k \in \mathbb{N}\), then for the best convergence in \(L_{2 \mu} (0,2 \pi)\) of the series \[ \sum^ \infty_{k = 1} \rho_ k \cos n_ kx, \quad \rho_ k > 0,\quad \{\rho_ k\} \in l_ 2, \tag{*} \] it is necessary and sufficient that for each fixed integer \(k\) one of the two conditions: a) \(q_ k = 2p_ k + 1\), \(p_ k \in \mathbb{N}\); b) \(q_ k = 2p_ k \geq 2 \mu - 1\) be fulfilled. 2) If \(\{n_ k\}\) is an arbitrary increasing sequence of indices, then for the best convergence of the series \((*)\) in \(L_{2 \mu} (0,2 \pi)\) it is necessary that for each fixed positive integer \(k\), one of the two conditions: a) \(n_{k + 1} = (2p_ k + 1) n_ k\), \(p_ k \in \mathbb{N}\); b) \(n_{k + 1} \geq (2 \mu - 1)n_ k\) be fulfilled, and it is sufficient that any one of them is fulfilled for all \(k \in \mathbb{N}\).
