The main result of the paper is an estimate of the number \(\ell(M)\) of ends of a properly and isometrically immersed \(p\)-dimensional minimal submanifold \(x: M\to\mathbb{R}^ n\) in terms of the projective volume \(V_ p(M)\) of \(M\), \(\ell(M)\leq\text{const}(p)V_ p(M)\). Here, the projective volume \(V_ p(M)\) is defined as \(V_ p(M)=\lim\sup_{R\to \infty} (\ell nR)^{-1}) \int_{M_ a(R)}| x(m)-a|^{-p}dm\), where \(a\in\mathbb{R}^ n\backslash x(M)\) and \(M_ a(R)=\{m\in M\mid| x(m)- a|\leq R\}\). Moreover, the author derives an estimate of \(V_ p(M)\) by the average number of intersection points of \(x(M)\) with all \((n-p)\)- planes passing through a fixed point \(b\in\mathbb{R}^ n\backslash x(M)\). The proofs are based on the monotonicity formula for minimal submanifolds and some standard integral formulas in geometric measure theory.
