Real polynomials \(P(\lambda) = \lambda^ n + a_ n \lambda^{n-1} + \cdots + a_ 1\), \(n \geq 2\), are considered. It is proved that there exists a matrix with nonnegative elements with a preassigned weakly positive characteristic polynomial (the positivity and weak positivity of the above polynomial is defined).
