    Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded symmetric domain in \(\mathbb{C}^ n\) containing the origin and let \(\{\Phi_{k\nu}\}\) be an orthogonal system of polynomials of \(\Omega\) which is orthonormal on the Shilov boundary of \(\Omega\). Each holomorphic function in \(\Omega\) possesses a series expansion \[ f(z)= \sum a_{k\nu} \Phi_{k\nu}(z). \] A complex sequence \(\{\lambda_ k\}\) is called a multiplier of \(H^ p\) into \(H^ q\) if \[ \sum a_{k\nu} \Phi_{k\nu}(z)\in H^ p\to \sum a_{k\nu} \lambda_ k \Phi_{k\nu}(z)\in H^ q. \] The authors prove that if \(0< p\leq 2\leq q<\infty\), \(\alpha={1\over p}- {1\over q}\) and \(\lambda_ k= O\) (\(k^{- n\alpha})\) then \(\{\lambda_ k\}\) is a multiplier of \(H^ p(\Omega)\) into \(H^ q(\Omega)\). The number \(\alpha\) in the above condition is the best possible when \(\Omega\) is a ball. This result is a generalization of a theorem of Duren. Some of his other theorems are generalized too.
