Let \(K\) be a finite field of characteristic \(p\), \(V\) a nonsingular quadratic space over \(K\), and \(O_ n(V)\) the orthogonal group for \(V\). The authors show that \(O_ n(V)\) is generated by two elements, except possibly when \(n = 2\) and \(p = 2\), or \(n = 4\) and \(| K| = 3\). This result generalizes and refines a previous result of the first author.
