In the area of aerodynamic shape optimization the direct matrix inversion method requires prohibitively high computer core memory, and consequently it becomes inapplicable to real problems. The present study represents the first successful attempt to solve those problems by applying the sensitivity analysis domain-decomposition scheme. Here the computational domains will be restricted to domains with non-overlapped multiblock grids. The utilized governing equations are the thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations. In all numerical examples the NACA 0012 airfoil and another profile are used. The result have shown that 60\% savings in the computer memory requirement can be achieved.
