In the category of tame knots \(S^ 1 \hookrightarrow S^ 3\) each equivalence class can be described by smooth embedding \(\mathbb{R}^ 1 \hookrightarrow \mathbb{R}^ 3\). In [\textit{A. R. Shastri}, TĂ´hoku Math. J., II. Ser. 44, No. 1, 11-17 (1992; Zbl 0743.57006)] it was shown that the embedding can be chosen ``polynomial'', \(t \mapsto (f(t), g(t), h(t)),\;t \in \mathbb{R}^ 1\), and \(f\), \(g\), \(h\) real polynomials. The author proves that two such polynomial representations of equivalent knots are related by a polynomial isotopy; in addition he gives a new proof of Shastri's theorem. The tool of the proof is Weierstrass' approximation argument.
