Homomorphisms and derivations from \({\mathcal B}(E)\) (Q1328265)

The authors give a positive answer to the question: Is there a Banach space \(E\) such that all derivations from \({\mathcal B} (E)\) are continuous, but such that there are discontinuous homomorphisms from \({\mathcal B} (E)\) into certain Banach algebras? In their example, \(E\) is the \(\ell^ 1\)- sum of James-type spaces and their proof relies on the continuum hypothesis.
