A linear subspace \({\mathcal S}\) of an algebra \({\mathcal G}\) is called reflexive if \(a\in {\mathcal S}\) whenever \(a\in {\mathcal G}\) and \(paq=0\) for every pair \(p\), \(q\) of idempotents in \({\mathcal G}\) such that \(p{\mathcal S}q= \{0\}\). In this paper the author studies properties of a Banach space that ensure that every separable norm closed linear subspace of the corresponding Calkin algebra is reflexive. The latter holds for the spaces \(c_ 0\) and \(\ell_ p\), \(1<p<\infty\).
