Sturm theorem for quaternion Hermitian eigenproblems (Q1328702)

The paper is concerned with the eigenvalue problem for Hermitian matrices with quaternion entries. Such matrices are encountered in many problems in physics. Such matrices of size \(n \times n\), can be represented by \(4n \times 4n\) real matrices and so the eigenproblem of a quaternion matrix can be solved by means of its real representation. However, negleting the particular structure of the original matrix increases both the storage requirements and computational effort. The paper presents some basic algorithms for finding the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a given Hermitian quaternion matrix, which take into consideration its particular structure.
