A method of explicit factorization of \(2\times 2\) matrix functions is given. The authors reduce the method of this problem to two scalar barrier problems and a finite system of linear equations. Several examples of matrices are given and factorized. Applications to singular integral equations and equations with Toeplitz and Hankel matrices are given. The problem of solving such integral equations is reduced to the factorization of \(2\times 2\) matrix functions.
