The problem of the correlation between the identified natural frequencies and the modal deflections for the distributed parameter systems has been considered. Based on the matrix method, the dynamic equations of the systems are established, and the natural frequencies and mode shape functions are obtained. In this procedure, the strain energy is considered as a criterion to identify the natural frequencies with the corresponding mode shapes. As an illustrative example, a computer simulation has been applied to a two-arm remote manipulating system.
