This paper considers a balanced fractional \(s^ m\) factorial design of resolution \(V_{p,q}\) which permits estimation of the general mean, all mean effects up to the \(p\)th degree component \((1\leq p\leq s-1)\) and all two-factor interactions up to the \(q\) th by \(q\) th degree component \((1\leq q\leq p)\) assuming that the remaining effects are negligible. The algebraic properties of the multidimensional relationship are utilized to study the analysis of variance and hypothesis testing problems with reference to such a design. Designs which are derivable from balanced arrays of strength 4 have been treated.
