Blends are defined to be smooth surfaces joining other surfaces and connecting them. Blends can be used to smoothen sharp edges or to introduce smooth intermediate surfaces as in the case of wing-fuselage junctions in airplane design. The present paper is meant as a review concerning certain types of blends which are used in computer-aided design. Parametric blends are discussed in detail and topological aspects are outlined. A large list of up-to-date references concludes the paper.
