    In an earlier paper [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 12, No. 2, 365-376 (1992; Zbl 0738.54019)] the author introduced the \(D\)-function, a topological invariant, and used it to classify minimal dynamical systems and to generalize Sharkovskij's theorem on the coexistence of periodic orbits. In this paper the author shows that the \(D\)-function and topological entropy are independent.
