The authors study a diffusive epidemic model with ``criss-cross'' dynamics, i.e. a model with two independent populations where individuals of either population can only become infected by contact with infected individuals of the other population. The populations are assumed to live in a bounded isolated domain with smooth boundary. Global existence, nonnegativity and \(L^ \infty\)-boundedness is established for the solution of the model, and its asymptotic behavior is studied. In particular, it is shown that under fairly general assumptions both populations will survive the epidemic.
