The problem of approximating the solution of a differential equations using lacunary spline functions is discussed by constructing a modified lacunary spline function of the type \((0;2;3)\) defined in the author's earlier paper [ibid. 42, 25-33 (1983; Zbl 0529.41005)]. The method is tested numerically on an example.
