First, the equality relation in floating point arithmetics is discussed, and its inadequacy is shown. Then stochastic numbers and the equality relation between them are introduced. On the examples of Gaussian elimination and the iterative Jacobi method it is shown how the second concept (i.e. stochastic equality) improves the solution significantly. The CESTAC method is used in the computations.
