The author describes a new approach to difference equation approximations of differential systems which contain inherently the same invariants as the differential systems. The fundamental formulas are derived from a discussion of motion under the force of gravity. This discussion is then extended to arbitrary distance dependent potentials. Finally, the author applies this methodology to a new dynamical model of the chemical bond.
