Classical and vector Sturm-Liouville problems: Recent advances in singular-point analysis and shooting-type algorithms (Q1334786)

A brief survey is given of important recent advances in the development of reliable automatic codes for numerical solution of (possibly singular) Sturm-Liouville problems and the vector generalization \(-(Pu')'+ Qu= \lambda Wu\) (where \(u\) is a vector function and \(P\), \(Q\), \(W\) are real symmetric matrix functions). Underlying theory and the advantages of various approaches are discussed.
