The paper is devoted to commutative algebras in braided monoidal categories. This means that the multiplication does not change after the composition with the braiding. The main examples of braided categories are the categories of (co)modules over (co)quasitriangular Hopf algebras \((H,R)\). Some algebras commutative in this sense became standard now: commutative superalgebras, algebras of functions on quantum spaces. The following example is discovered in this paper: The twisted product of a cocommutative finite-dimensional Hopf algebra \(H\) with invertible cocycle is commutative with respect to its associative Drinfeld double \({\mathcal D} (H)\). The authors study structural properties of quantum commutative algebras \(A\) acted upon by \((H,R)\). They shown that the category \({}_{A\# H} \text{Mod}\) of modules over the crossed product \(A\# H\) resembles the category of modules over commutative rings. The notion of an \(H\)-center for any algebra \(A\) acted upon \((H,R)\) is defined. The generalization of commutativity considered in this paper is not unique. Other concepts can be found in papers of Majid.
