The spectral multidomain method is applied to the two-dimensional time- dependent incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The equations are discretized on a nonstaggered stretched mesh with a mixed finite difference-Chebyshev method. Further a time-splitting procedure is used. The accuracy of the multidomain method is demonstrated for two channel flow configurations. Finally, the method is applied to a two-dimensional roughness element in order to study the instability waves in boundary layers.
