The author studies the discrete spectrum of the Schrödinger operator \(S_d (H_0^\alpha)\), for a system of three identical particles on the subspace of functions with a permutational symmetry \(\alpha\). Since the motion of center of mass has been separated, \[ H_0= \sum_{j=1}^3 M^{-1} (i\nabla_{0j}+ A_j^0)^2+ \sum^3 _{\substack{ S,t=1\\ S<t}} V(|r_s- r_t|), \] acting on the space \(L_2 (R_0)\) with \(R_0= \{(r_1, r_2, r_3)\in \mathbb{R}^9\); \(r_1+ r_2+ r_3= 0\}\), and \(H_0^\alpha\equiv H_0 P^\alpha\). He considers the case in which the two-particle Hamiltonians \(H_0 [C_1 ]\) have no discrete spectrum on the subspace with symmetry \(\omega\) induced by \(\alpha\). That is, he supposes that \(S_d (H_0^\omega [C_1 ])= \emptyset\), for \(\omega< \alpha\). According to his theorem, if \(H_0^\omega [C_1 ]\) has no virtual levels, then \(S_d (H_0^\alpha)\) is finite.
