    \textit{N. Krier} and \textit{J. C. D. S. Yaqub} have proved [Math. Z. 149, 19- 28 (1976; Zbl 0341.50005)] that if a projective plane \(\pi\) admits an involutory homology and an involutory elation, then \(\pi\) belongs to the Lenz-Barlotti class \(I_ 2\) and not to class \(I_ 1\). Let \(p\) and \(q\) be primes. The author now finds a classification of planes having a homology of order \(p\) and an elation of order \(q\). The following are the main results: Theorem A. Let \(\pi\) have an \((A,x)\)-homology and a \((B,y)\)-elation, both of order \(p\), then (i) if \(x = y\) or \(A = B\), then \(\pi\) belongs to one of the classes \(I_ 1\), \(I_ 2\), \(II_ 1\) or \(III_ 1\), (ii) if \(p = 3\), then \(x \neq y\) and \(A \neq B\), and \(\pi\) belongs to one of the classes \(I_ 1\), \(I_ 2\), \(I_ 6\), \(II_ 1\), \(II_ 2\) or \(III_ 1\). Theorem B. No translation plane or dual translation plane can have an elation and a homology, both of order \(p\). In a third theorem the author introduces a condition under which \(\pi\), admitting a homology of order \(p\) and an elation of order \(q\), belongs to one of the classes \(I_ 1\), \(I_ 2\), \(I_ 6\), \(II_ 1\), \(II_ 2\), or \(III_ 1\).
