Let \(G\) be a finite group. If \(x \in G\) and \(p \nmid | x|\), then \(x\) is called \(p\)-regular. The conjugacy class of a \(p\)-regular element in \(G\) is called a \(p\)-regular class of \(G\). Let \(n\) be a positive integer. If \(n = p^ a m\) and \(p \nmid m\), then let \(\omega_ p(n) = a\). For the group \(G\), \(\overline{\omega c}_ p (G) := \max \{\omega_ p (| C|) \mid C \in \text{Con} (G)\) and \(C\) is \(p\)-regular\}, where \(\text{Con} (G) := \{C \mid C\) is a conjugacy class of \(G\}\). The author investigates the relation between the conjugacy class lengths and the \(p\)-rank in a \(p\)-solvable group. It is proved that \[ \ell_ p (G/O_ p (G)) \leq \begin{cases} 2 + \log_ p (b \overline {\omega c}_ p (G), & \text{if \(p\) is not a Fermat prime;}\\ 1 + \log _{p-2} (b \overline {\omega c}_ p (G) (p-3) + 1), & \text{if \(p \neq 3\), a Fermat prime;}\\ 2 + \log_ 2 (b \omega c_ p(G)), & \text{if \(p = 3\),}\end{cases} \] where \(b = 1\) if \(| G|\) is odd or if \(G\) is solvable with abelian \(G_ p\), and \(b = 2\) if \(G\) is an arbitrary \(p\)- solvable group, \(p\) an odd prime.
