    Using a nonlinear evolution equation derived by a (regular) perturbation approach and approximating the dynamics of the full Navier-Stokes equations, the film flow down a cylinder is studied numerically for periodic boundary conditions. A rich variety of solutions is obtained depending mainly on the value of a Weber-number-type parameter \(S\). As \(S\) increases from small values, the chaotic character of the solution gives way to order, first in space and eventually in time. Pulse-like structures are observed and their interaction is studied. The collision of two pulses can be an almost elastic particle-like rebound, or a deeply inelastic coalescence if \(S\) exceeds a certain critical parameter.
