    It has been shown that for a solution \(u \in K = \{u \in H^ 1_ 0(\Omega) : | Dv(x)| \leq 1\) a.e. in \(\Omega\}\) of the problem \(\min_{v \in K} \bigl\{ \int_ \Omega f(x,Dv) dx - \int_ \Omega gv dx\biggr \}\), where \(f(x,\cdot)\) is strictly convex for a.e. \(x \in \Omega\), \(\alpha | \xi|^ 2 \leq f(x,\xi) \leq A(1 + | \xi|^ 2)\) for a.e. \(x \in \Omega\), \(\forall \xi \in R^ n\), there exists a Lagrange multiplier in the form of a positive Radon measure \(\lambda \in M(\Omega;[0,\infty))\) such that \(\int_ \Omega (1 - | Du|^ 2) d \lambda = 0\), \(-\text{div}(f_ \xi (x,Du) + \lambda Du) = g\) in \({\mathcal D}'(\Omega)\). The result obtained is analogous to that obtained by \textit{H. Brézis} [Arch. Rat. Mech. Analysis 49, 32-40 (1972; Zbl 0265.35021)], who showed that for the particular case when \(f(x,\xi) = | \xi|^ 2\) and \(g\) is a positive constant, there exists a unique function \(\lambda \in L^ \infty(\Omega)\) such that \[ \begin{cases} \lambda \geq 0 & \text{a.e. in \(\Omega\),}\\ \lambda(1 - | Du| )=0 & \text{a.e. in \(\Omega\),}\\ - \Delta u - \text{div}(\lambda Du) = g & \text{in \({\mathcal D}' (\Omega)\).} \end{cases} \] The problem is related to the elastoplastic torsion of a cylindric bar of cross-section \(\Omega\).
