Let \(K\) be a number field. In this paper, the existence of \(K\)-rational points on a projective hypersurface \(X\) of degree \(m\) and dimension \(n\) defined over \(K\) is addressed. Let \(X(K)\) denote the set of \(K\)-rational points on \(X\). The main result is the following theorem. Theorem A. Let \(m = 3\). If \(n \geq 12\) and \(X\) is nonsingular, then \(X(K) \neq \emptyset\). An equivalent formulation of the theorem is given as follows. Theorem B. Let \({\mathbf F} ({\mathbf x}) = F(x_1, x_2, \dots, x_n)\) be a cubic form with coefficients in \(K\). If \(n \geq 13\) and \({\mathbf F}\) is nonsingular, then \({\mathbf F} ({\mathbf a}) = 0\) for some \({\mathbf a} \in K^n \backslash \{0\}\). This generalizes the result of \textit{D. R. Heath-Brown} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 47, 225-257 (1983; Zbl 0494.10012)] for \(K = \mathbb{Q}\), \(m = 3\) and \(n \geq 9\), to an arbitrary number field \(K\), though the bound 9 for \(n\) is not achieved. The proof follows that of Heath-Brown for \(\mathbb{Q}\) closely, generalizing the arguments therein to number fields \(K\).
