Global optimization conditions for certain nonconvex minimization problems (Q1342899)

The paper concerns the minimization of a lower-semicontinuous proper convex function \(f: X\to R\cup \{+ \infty\}\) over an arbitrary nonempty subset \(M\) of a reflexive Banach space \(X\). A necessary and sufficient condition for a global minimum is given [cf. \textit{J.-L. Lions}, `Contrôle optimal de systèmes gouvernés par des équations aux dérivées partielles' (Études mathématiques), Paris: Dunand; Paris; Gauthier-Villars 1968. XII, 426 p. (1968; Zbl 0179.418)]. The method is applied to other nonconvex minimization problems.
