Let \(G \subset \mathbb{R}^ n\) be an open parallelepiped, \(f : G \to \mathbb{R}\) and \(K : G \times G \times \mathbb{R}\) \(m\) times continuously differentiable functions with some growth conditions of the derivatives near the boundary of \(G\). The author considers the weakly singular Urysohn equation (*) \(u(x) = \int_ G K(x,y,u(y)) dy + f(x)\), \(x \overline{\in} G\). A partition of \(G\) into closed cells with nonuniform grid points of degree \(r\) is introduced where the grid points are more densely located towards the boundary of \(G\). An approximate solution \(u_ h(x)\) of (*) is an \(n\)-dimensional cubic spline on the cells satisfying equation (*) on the grid points and some suitable boundary conditions. The author proves on several conditions, in particular, equation (*) has a unique solution \(u_ 0 \overline{\in} L^ \infty\) and the linearized equation (*) at \(u_ 0\) has in \(L^ \infty\) only the trivial solution, that for sufficiently many grid points there exists a unique approximation \(u_ h \overline{\in} L^ \infty\) to \(u_ 0\). If the degree \(r\) of nonuniformity satisfies some condition, \(u_ h\) approximates \(u_ 0\) of order 4 on \(\overline{G}\). The result is based on a regularity theorem on weakly singular Urysohn equations (*) given by \textit{G. Vainikko} [Multidimensional weakly singular integral equations. Lect. Notes Math. 1549 (1993; Zbl 0789.65097)].
