The Cauchy problem for a generalized Zakharov system (Q1343055)

It is studied a general Zakharov system which describes the spontaneous generation of a magnetic field in a cold plasma \((A_1)\) or in a hot plasma \((A_2)\). For the case \(A_1\), the author proves the global existence of weak solutions for small initial data. The local existence of smooth solutions for smooth initial data is establized for \(A_1\) and \(A_2\), by using a regularized system. Finally, the global existence in the case \(A_1\), in two dimensions, is obtained by using a Brezis-Gallouet logarithmic Sobolev inequality. To obtain these results, the system is transformed by expressing the magnetic field as a function of the electric field and using the \(L^p\)-continuity properties of singular integral operators.
