From the Introduction: ``\textit{S. Goldstein} and \textit{O. Penrose} [J. Stat. Phys. 24, 325-342 (1981; Zbl 0516.70021)] introduced the concept of non-equilibrium entropy for one-dimensional dynamical systems, and they investigated its basic properties. The rate of the increase of this entropy is qualitatively related to the Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy. It is shown in \textit{S. Goldstein} [Isr. J. Math. 38, 241-256 (1981; Zbl 0463.28014)] that the asymptotic rate of entropy increase coincides with the Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy. One of the basic tools used to prove this result is the well-known result of \textit{N. A. Friedman} and \textit{D. S. Ornstein} [Adv. Math. 5, 365-394 (1970; Zbl 0203.058)] which says that every mixing Markov one-dimensional dynamical system is isomorphic to a Bernoulli one. It follows from the properties of the two-dimensional dynamical system considered by \textit{F. Ledrappier} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 287, 561-563 (1978; Zbl 0387.60084)] that the multidimensional analogue of this result fails to be true. However, we shall show that it is possible to prove a multidimensional analogue of Goldstein's results''.
