Let \(E\) be a complex-oriented cohomology theory which is Landweber exact such that \(E_*\) is concentrated in even degrees. Assume that there is a subring \(R\) of the rational numbers such that \(E_*\) is a free \(R\)-module of countable rank. These hypotheses are satisfied by \(BP\), \(KU\), \(Ell\) and the \(E(n)\). Let \(\mathbb{E}_*\) denote an \(\Omega\)-spectrum which represents this cohomology theory \(E\), and let \(\mathbb{E}_r'\) denote the connected component of the basepoint of \(\mathbb{E}_r\). The authors prove that (a) \(H_*(\mathbb{E}_r';Z)\) is torsion free for all \(r\); (b) \(H_*(\mathbb{E}_r'; Z_{(p)})\) is an exterior algebra for \(r\) odd and a polynomial algebra for \(r\) even; (c) the canonical map \(\tau_E:H_*^R (\mathbb{E}_*;Z) \to H_* (\mathbb{E}_*;Z)\) is an isomorphism.
